Channel V Launchpad – The Honored Ones

Hindi rock has received a new avatar. This has come in the form of a reality show. The launch pad for Channel V which has been a successful reality show and has also been credited with launching some of the great new rock bands from India like Zero, Them Clones, Zephyr, Reverse Polarity and a series of other big names, is back for another. season in 2009. Since 2005, the hit television series has seen the rise of some great rock bands. Here’s a look at some of the notable bands that emerged as a result of the show, and why the judges deemed them unique:

 

Them Clones: Them Clones is a rock band that won the first edition of the Channel V launch pad and were considered favorites early on for their unique sound and vibrant personalities that best embodied the rock genre that year. Since then, they have enjoyed commercial success and have become the recipients of countless awards and concerts that have taken them to foreign destinations such as the United States.

 

The Superfuzz – This band has surely become one of the best campus rock bands in India and is on the top after winning the Channel V launch pad in 2008. The band has now moved into music traditional Indian and has a very catchy sound. as a result of some great guitar solos and lead singer Sanchal can go from shouting the lyrics of a particular song to singing a beautiful melody.

 

Helga’s Funk Castle – The band that originally started out as an improv band and was known for their impromptu performances and on-stage antics on Channel V Launchpad soon began to change their music to funk. Their sound was loved by all the judges on the show and their climactic glory came when they were chosen as winners, making them one of the most memorable bands of that year.

 

Reverse Polarity: The newly crowned winners of the 2009 edition of Launchpad wowed audiences and reality show judges with their heads banging and metal songs and took top honors.
