Rome – Different interests, one destination!

Worried about dropping teenagers at the family hotel in Rome while you enjoy the rest of the sights? You do not have to do it! The Italian capital has something for everyone, from the oldest member of the clan to the youngest.

While it may seem like a very “grown-up” destination at times, with the ancient buildings, even older artifacts, gloomy museums, and screeching cathedrals, Rome has a lot to surprise. There is so much to enjoy, from the moment you walk out the door of your family-friendly Rome hotel. These are some of the things that every member of the family can look forward to on a Rome vacation.

For the history buff

History is the only thing you can be sure of getting from the moment you arrive in the Italian capital – practically every square meter is packed with history. Of course, no history buff worthy of the title will want to miss the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. They are all close to each other and can give at least half a day of immersion in the ancient past.

The art expert

Your history buff child won’t be the only one having fun, because history goes hand in hand with art in many places, including St. Peter’s Basilica, where the two collide. Nearby Vatican museums will also provide hours and hours of entertainment, though you’ll want to make arrangements in advance if you don’t want to spend hours waiting in line.

The streets themselves are also full of art and history, particularly in historic centers like Piazza Navona. It is home to even more magnificent Bernini sculptures, found on a former hippodrome, as well as Campo de ‘Fiori and Piazza di Spagna with the impressive Spanish Steps.

The shopaholic

Those who find Bulgari more inspiring than Bernini need not fear boredom – it is the capital of Italy after all! For the family fashionista, there is no need to stay at the family hotel in Rome flipping through the trendy channels while the ooh and ahh geeks go over ancient history. There is a lot to look at (and spend) for the fashion avant-garde very close to the Spanish Steps, and the biggest names in Italian fashion, including Fendi, Valentino, Bulgari, Prada, Armani, Versace, Ferragamo, Cavalli, Gucci and many others. They are a stone’s throw from the historic squares. Tick off Via Condotti, Via Borgognona, Via Frattina, Via Sistina and Via Bocca de Leone in those map apps and go out and shop till you drop.

Glorious food food

Even if your family has the most diverse tastes in food, everyone is catered for in the Italian capital! Dine at any of the wonderful restaurants serving home-cooked meals around your Rome family hotel, or delight the whole family with a fine dining experience in one of the many upscale establishments.
