A Taser uses much of the same technology as a standard stun gun. The attacker is stunned with the same charge and reacts in the same way as with a stun gun. The main difference is that, unlike a stun gun, you don’t have to be right next to the attacker to apply the charge. The charging electrodes for the stun guns are inside the unit itself. With the taser, they are connected by wires. This is so that when you pull the trigger on the taser, it propels itself towards the attacker like a gun. With the help of small spikes, the cables latch onto the attacker and deliver the shock in the same manner as a stun gun.

The advantage of a taser is that you don’t have to be right next to the attacker, you can be up to 15 feet away to shoot them. Another advantage the Taser has over the stun gun is that the Taser also works as a contact stun gun if you don’t want to deploy the ‘darts’.

Before purchasing any type of gun, you should research the laws in your state, city, or county. Stun guns and Tasers are restricted in certain areas. Either weapon is a great form of protection depending on your preferences. The main difference between the two weapons is that the stun gun is for close contact stunning. The taser is for close contact stunning or the attacker can be shot within 15 feet with ‘darts’ attached to the end of the 15 foot cord.
