WoW Hunter Guide to Beast Taming Missions for Dwarf Hunters

When your dwarf hunter reaches level 10, you will be able to complete a special chain of five missions and earn what I consider to be the best thing about being a hunter – your hunting pet! There are some tips that will make accomplishing these missions easier. Here is the information you need as a dwarf hunter to complete these missions easily.

An important note: you have to perform these missions in your own dwarf starting area; You cannot receive or complete Hunter Beast Taming missions in any other racial area. Later you will be able to tame most of the beasts you encounter, assuming your level is high enough, but to learn the skill of taming beasts you must start with your dwarf trainer and the beasts that are in the dwarf starting area. .

This is a chain of five missions, but you don’t actually have to complete the first mission; all the first quest does is send you to the quest giver for the next four quests. You can go directly to the objective of mission 1, Grif Wildheart (the quest giver for quests 2 through 5) and start there.

You will find Grif Wildheart in Kharanos, Dun Morogh, directly across from the Kharanos Inn. Look on the west side of the road at the top of the little hill.

Grif Wildheart he will give you a rod of taming. Attach the taming rod to your item bar or action bar so that you can easily find it when you find the beast you want to tame. You will get a new taming rod for each beast, so discard it after successfully completing each taming mission. You can hover over the bar icon on your bar or in your inventory to see which beast the bar tames.

To tame a beast, point at it (with a left click or the tab key) and then right-click on the taming rod. The beast will approach you with little hearts floating above its head. He will attack you. DO NOT ATTACK the beast. Let it hit you and DO NOT MOVE. After several hits, the beast will stop attacking and will be your pet. You get mission credit at this point.

If you try to tame a beast and you see Invalid target When selecting the beast, make sure you are targeting the exact beast that you are supposed to tame. For instance, make sure you are pointing at a Big rock boar, not an old man Crag Boar, or just an old Crag Boar.

After successfully taming the beast, you can get some practice using the commands available in your pet bar. This is a good time to think about which beast you would like to have as a pet after completing the fourth mission.

When you discard the pet, it will attack you, so order it to stay and then flee to a safe distance before using the Discard command. To discard the beast, right-click on your pet’s portrait and select Discard from the drop-down menu.

Use your beast tracking skills (on the minimap) to find the following beasts for Taming the Beast missions 2 through 4:

Mission 2- Big rock boar – Look in the valley to the southeast of Grif Wildheart and to the west.

Mission 3: Snow Leopard – These are in the valley southeast of Grif Wildheart; especially towards the southern end of the valley.

Mission 4: Ice Claw Bear – Look in the valley southeast of Grif Wildheart, especially in the northeast of the valley.

After completing mission four, you can tame a more permanent pet and then visit Belia Thundergranite (see Quest 5, below) to get the skills you need to feed your pet.

For Mission 5: Talk to Belia Thundergranite

in the Hall of Arms, Ironforge to complete this chain. Go to the southeast corner of Ironforge in the Military Pavilion. You will see Belia standing next to a canyon.

Follow these tips and you should have no problem completing these missions easily, and soon you will be able to enjoy the benefits of your own hunting pet.
