Children’s behavior today

Many behavior problems in children are perfectly normal, but if you’re like most parents, you’ll be very concerned if your child starts acting in an unfamiliar way. If your child starts exhibiting strange behavior that you haven’t noticed before, you probably have concerns about your children’s behavior. So how can you start today?

The most common behavior problem in children is tantrums, and this is the experience of most, if not all children. Young children, especially toddlers, tend to have tantrums more frequently as they continue to learn to express themselves and develop motor skills. They often get frustrated because they don’t know how to say what they want or need, even playing with a new toy can make them nervous. It’s part of the growing up process, plus as they learn to handle different tasks effectively and communicate better, the tantrums will subside. You can help them through their tantrums by showing concern, not anger, and by helping them see through the problems they face in real-life circumstances, like school and home.

Another common behavior problem in children is whining. However, all young children will do it unless you teach them otherwise. As a parent, it’s natural to respond to your child if he cries. There is a different type of parental response that is often given to a crying child: an urgent response. Children notice this and since children realize that they will get your attention by whining, they will do so without fail. Whether they need a snack or want to play with a toy that’s out of their reach, they’ll complain if they think they’ll get you to offer what they want. The only real way to deal with this is to make your son understand that she can come and ask him for whatever he wants. Keep an always open line of communication between you and your child and instead of whining to get her attention, she will definitely learn to come and talk to you.

Children will always fight for some power with their parents; it’s part of growing up. You may have already noticed times when your child has spoken disrespectfully in an attempt to get his way. This is another of the common behaviors of children that many parents go through.
