AudioPED – a review

When it comes to Bluetooth headsets, it’s rare to have a device that’s packed with features and great design features. Organizing so many sensors and chips inside a one-piece earpiece is no easy task, and I was delighted to read about the new Audio PED (Personal Entertainment Device) and the quality it brings to the table. It’s currently close to hitting the shelves and with the buzz building about it, I thought it was a good idea to review the product from an independent perspective.

Now, most of the camera-equipped Bluetooth headsets available on Amazon are called “spy headsets” and there are a wide variety of them available with prices ranging from $30 to $90. They ensure you get extended hours of video playback and recording on the device with up to 16 hours of playback possible.

Bluetooth connectivity

Audio PED has the unique feature of being able to connect via Bluetooth to multiple devices at once, including your laptop, smartphone, or even iPod. This feature is missing from the Ctronics device and from every other Bluetooth headset I’ve found for under $200.

As part of its added functionality, it can act as a perfect health monitoring companion by measuring the intensity of UV rays when traveling in the sun. None of the headsets in the similar category offer UV detection as they are more focused on the “Spy” side of things.

Touch screen

Audio PED comes with a touch screen that shows the track name and shows the tracks. The Ctronics device does not have a touch screen and relies on buttons all the time for navigation. Audio PED is also quite compact compared to Ctronics despite having a touch screen.

CompanionApp

Most competitive headsets, including the Ctronics device, are plug and play and connect via USB. A companion app for such a simple device makes sense, but Audio PED isn’t just a Bluetooth headset; It has Wi-Fi connectivity, smart sensors, extended battery, and even a touch screen, so it comes with its own awesome app that’s fun to use and extremely useful and easy to get started with.
