Nursing CEUS Approved
Many states offer free continuing education for nurses, so you can earn CEUs without breaking the bank. To qualify, however, the courses must be approved by the state board of nursing. Nursing CEUs can be earned through in-person courses, webinars, professional conferences, or clinical workshops. Common areas of continuing education for nurses are nursing laws, clinical topics, conflict management, pharmacology, and more. You can also take advantage of free CEUs offered by healthcare facilities.
Many hospital systems offer free CEUs to their employees. However, it is important to note that each state’s nursing board may have different criteria for approving CEUs. Therefore, it is important to check with your state board for details on the number of contact hours that a particular course offers. Some of the organizations that offer Free CEUs for Nurses include the Oncology Nursing Society and the Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurses.
The COVID-19 course provides 1.5 contact hours of free nursing CE. This course discusses the mental health effects of the pandemic. It reviews recent pandemics and current coronavirus issues. Other topics covered include the psychological effects of seizure and the importance of having a seizure Action Plan. Finally, it discusses the prevention of seizures by utilizing resources to teach school personnel.

Despite these requirements, many free nursing CEUS do not require tests. Most of these courses only require a short evaluation. Florida will require nurses to take a post-test in October 2020. One question on the post-test will ask whether or not they have made any changes in their practice. The optional self-assessment consists of study questions, but it is not a requirement of the course.
Another important point to consider when choosing a free nursing CEUS is when to take it. Most RN licenses expire at the end of August, so if you plan to take a course this summer, make sure you complete it before your license expires. Remember to renew your license on the last day of the month of your birth so you don’t miss your renewal deadline. Further, if you plan to continue practicing as an RN, the additional contact hours may not be counted as CEUs for subsequent licensure renewal.
In addition to completing a certification exam, you must also complete continuing education every two years. The initial licensing period is six to 29 months, depending on the month and year of your birth. You are exempted from most of the continuing competency requirements for your first renewal. In addition, based on your practice, you must take a targeted continuing education course in Forensic Evidence Collection. This course should be approved by the nursing board.
