Downloading MP3 files is easy

MP3 files make it easy for anyone to distribute music completely free of charge. Anyone can now easily find and access music and manipulate sound on a computer. Now you can easily take a song from a music CD and play it directly on your computer or encode the file. You can also convert files to CD files and create your own CDs on the web. It is also possible to store hundreds of MP3 files on data CDs. You can even load these files onto portable players and take them wherever you go. It is also possible to download these files.

How to download?

One of the easiest ways to download an MP3 file is to right-click on the file’s link and choose “Save File/Target/Link As… or Download Link”. This is true for Windows and Linux. For Mac OS X, you need to hold down the option key and click the link to the MP3 file. The file can be downloaded to the desktop.

Firefox is the recommended browser to download these files. They can also be easily downloaded using the program or the accelerator. Left-clicking will play the file in Windows Media Player and not save it. Then you can create a special directory for all MP3 files so you don’t lose any files. This may also not solve the problem because saving the file to the hard drive may not allow it to have its normal file extension.

Webmasters are smart enough and usually upload files with unusual file extensions so server administrators can’t delete them. These MP3 files can be downloaded as normal, but will need to be renamed before you can play them when they are stored on your hard drive. Another way could be to unzip the file using Winzip if the file has a .zip or .gz extension. Renaming these files must be done with care. You must first select the file in Windows Explorer. Then press F2 and rename the extension as .MP3. Sometimes this extension change does not appear because Windows hides the file name extension. The next step is to go to the View menu and click on Folder Options. Select the View tab and click “Hide file extensions for known file types.” If this doesn’t work, the last resort is to open the MS-Dos window and go to the MP3 directory.
