Tampines New Town, or simply Tampines among the locals, is one of the busiest districts in Singapore. It is known to be the largest residential area in the country with a population of 216,000 people living in Housing and Development Board (HDB) apartments. This area was once abundant in trees called Tampines, hence the name. It has become a residential area since the late 70s and the rapid growth of this district was unstoppable from then on.
Tampines is not only known for its quiet but fun neighborhoods, but it is also famous for various restaurants that can be found in almost every corner of the district. These restaurants come in all different shapes and sizes, and also offer different menus (Asian, Italian, French, American, and local recipes, among others).
With so many options available, it’s not surprising that anyone can feel overwhelmed. However, Singapore is known to be a seafood country, so it might as well divulge its seafood delicacies before anything else.

Established by the legendary “Hokkien Mee Master” Tan Kue Kim in the 1980s, this restaurant is famous for its authentic Hokkien Mee cuisines. This Halal-certified entity serves their famous XO Hokkien Mee for $12, Butter Cereal Prawn for $16 each, and their Fish Maw Soup for just $12. You can also try the Garlic Steamed Boston Lobster for $38, as well as their Hot Plate Black Crab and Cheese Crab (prices are based on the seasons).

Fish & Co. is all about fish, fish and even more fish! The company was born in 1998, headed by business partners Ricky Chew and Lambert Yeo. This restaurant serves sumptuous fish cuisines as well as other seafood specialties like prawns, oysters, and mussels. One of their best sellers is their Fish & Chips, some customers even call them the best in town. Other delicious dishes include the Entree Platter (consisting of nachos, fish nuggets, shrimp fritters and fried calamari, with spicy mango vinaigrette, tomato sauce and tartar sauce for dipping), Fish & Chips from around the world, crab with Portuguese chile and Spaghetti a la marinera made with sautéed prawns, mussels and squid in tomato sauce. • Good Year fishing village
Although some guests complained that this place is not easy to find, searching for Good Year Seafood Village is worth a try. And of course with some good reasons behind it. The first of these is their delicious Asam fish (Hong Ban/Red Garoupa in sweet and sour sauce), a best seller for $22. You can also try 4 Treasures Tofu, with scallops, shrimp and broccoli, for $15. The chili crabs and black pepper crab are also must-trys.
