Family junction

What is this thing called family union?

Family bonding or just family fun. I have a lot of pretty vivid memories of all the places my family went when school was out and we kids didn’t usually go during the summer. That was from the Atlantic Coast to the great Western Pacific Coast. The Adirondack Mountains where we hear the story of Rip Van Winkle who is said to have slept for twenty-five years. And how we saw the fireflies glow in the night. There was a Round Top Red Top as Dad used to say. That was a rooster that we thought was a chicken. We left him there with the family whose farm we stayed on for the summer. They promised to send us the eggs that could arrive. And by then we still didn’t know the difference. Though people might have figured it out by then. Then to the beach for another summer, where I did a locker and even an elevator operator for one of the nearby hotels. My sister babysat for a local family there. All the young girls were doing that at the time. It was and still is called ‘babysitting’. Who to take care of the baby while my husband and I are out for a much needed night.

Then the scene changes to the great Southwest. Where we ended up in San Diego and beautiful Yosemite Valley, which wasn’t that far away for the summer. Camp Cook as I remember it. That was one of the biggest. In fact, after getting married in this great state, my wife and I made Yosemite our two-week summer vacation treat. We stayed in one of those tent cabins. We did the trails and hikes and marveled at the beautiful waterfalls. wedding veil and so on. And the big rock formations like El Capitan and all the others. And the falls of fire that appeared at night. And there were campfire songs in the evening organized by the Cook Company on a small stage in the area. And then the trip back home and to work although now we had something to talk about and remember in the most nostalgic way. How to compare vacations when we came back.

That was with our co-workers. Well, where did you guys go? What about you, friends? Did you really run away somewhere good? And the work wasn’t so bad anymore. Yes, summer family fun for us was the best time of the year. And that’s kind of what we mean when we say ‘family bonding.’ Something we would plan ahead and look forward to all year long. Like on the way home. Let’s come back next year, we’ve had a great time here. And we would all agree. That sounds great to all of us.

So really escaping somewhere nice is really a good family bond in the good old USA. Now let’s see if I left anything here. Was there any other place that I should have mentioned? Have we ever stayed home and did something unusual during the holidays? Yeah, I think there was at least one time Dad couldn’t get away. And my mom and sister and I would get on the bus to Long Beach or to that famous Jones beach with the whitest sand we’ve ever seen. Now that was the Atlantic Coast if I remember correctly. We rarely had to go far to plan for the summer. There were tourist books and guides in abundance wherever we went. So I really hope that your next family bonding or fun is memorable for you and your whole family. As you may know, the family bond is one of the most important characteristics of our American family.
