All of us have heard stories of the dead when we were children. There are always some old stories associated that talk about the presence of the dead in the nearby surroundings, a house haunted by the person who lived in the house who died of some unfortunate mishap, an old hotel that is visited by the caretaker who has been dead for a long time, or a place that is visited by the dead at a certain hour of the night.

Places like these have always been one of the main topics of discussion and a major point of interest for many. A large part of the country’s population still believes in ghosts and supernaturals. Ghosts, spirits, whatever you call them, but they are a part of the supernatural that is beyond our understanding. And this is why many of us want to experience the chills of hunted places. This article is a list of the five scariest haunted places in India that have evidence of multiple sightings of the dead.

  • GP Block, Meerut – Although not as popular, the GP block in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh is one of the most important haunted places in India. On several occasions there have been several reported sightings of four guys sitting inside the house with a single candle lit, even though no one lives in the house. This is the most common sight reported by people passing through the area. There are also reports of girls dressed in red coming out of the house and, on some occasions, some boys sitting on the roof. The place is abandoned and people have stopped going.

  • Delhi Canton, New Delhi – Yes, even the nation’s capital is haunted in various places. The Cantt of Delhi. it is one of the spooky areas of the city where multiple sightings of the dead have been reported. The area is full of lush green trees and plants, many people have said that they have seen a lady dressed in a white saari and asking for a ride. If she doesn’t stop her vehicle, she will start running after her vehicle as if she is going to catch it. And, you may not believe it, many have reported that she is even ahead of them. Some people claim that she was a hitchhiker when she was alive and that is why she greets lonely passersby. Apart from Delhi Cantt, Lothian Cemetery, Sanjay van, Jamali Kamali Mashjid are some of the other haunted places in the city.

  • Kuldhara, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan – This is one of the most interesting haunted destinations in India. It is so because, there are legends that on one night in 1825, this lively town and 83 other neighboring towns suddenly disappeared. No one knows where this large number of people went. It is said that the previous people who lived in the villages placed a curse on the location behind, saying that the location would bring death to anyone who tried to inhabit the land. It is very likely that this is why many parts of the town still remain. Broken brick structures stretch out in all directions with a ghostly silence that spreads throughout the town.

  • Bhangarh Forts, Alwar, Rajasthan – This is another haunted place in the state of Rajasthan. The fort was built by Raja Bhagwant Das in 1573 as the residence of his second son. But soon after, the population of the place began to decrease. A popular myth associated with the location is that a wizard cursed the residents that they would all die an unnatural death and that their spirits would haunt the place for centuries. The place is quite deserted and will scare any living mortal who visits the place.

  • Brij Raj Bhavan Palace, Kota, Rajasthan – Last but not least, there is the 178-year-old palace of the former prince of Kota. There are rumors that the palace has a resident ghost, namely Major Burton, who while serving as a British civil servant was murdered by Indian sepoys during the 1857 mutiny, along with his two sons. People have reported that an old man with a can in his hand is wandering around the place. Although the ghost does no harm to anyone, but if there are guards sleeping in the palace, Major Burton slaps them.
