How to make money from home as a writer

I decided to start my own freelance writing business when I got tired of the slow commutes to and from work, which meant I often missed feeding my kids dinner, reading them a story, or putting them to bed. So in deciding to quit work, figuring out how to make money from home became extremely important to me.

I’ve always loved writing, so when I started doing research and saw that I could work at home and still make good money, I decided to do it. As a freelance writer, you can work on a wide variety of different tasks and be paid very well; like copywriting, which is my preference, as well as writing product reviews, marketing presentations, general data entry, course materials, and the most exciting projects like ghostwriting, biographies, and much more.

So if you really love writing, you should be able to turn that love into a talent where you can write about anything. Having the determination to succeed will also help you in this. So no writing job should be too difficult for you, whether you’re writing about knitting, choosing the right pet insurance, or designing a garden.

Once you have a portfolio, you can start branching out and looking for other ways to make money, like affiliate marketing. With affiliate marketing, you can set up multiple websites where you write content that markets other people’s products and earn money every time you send them traffic that converts.

So the hardest part, as you may have guessed, is finding the job, but luckily there are plenty of ways to find good writing projects and the best place to start is online. I personally believe that there are always companies looking for talented SEO writers and this is not going to stop anytime soon due to the continued expansion of the internet. I always get more offers than I can accept for SEO articles, so you can already see that SEO is a real moneymaker.

There are many businesses that need to have a social media presence to market their products, and as a writer, you could be hired to write your Facebook posts, Twitter posts, and even update your various blogs or LinkedIn business page. Companies pay surprisingly well for these updates, since they have to be regular.

Don’t be discouraged if things start slower than you thought. Figuring out how to make money from home takes time and a lot of hard work, but most of the time, hard work pays off in the end, so keep at it.
