MLM Keyword Research: Four Biggest Problems Solved

Problem #1: Only short words

Keywords returned by Google’s external keyword tool and other paid tools like Market Samurai are often only 2-3 words long. If you type “MLM leads” (a two word phrase), you’ll get other two and three word phrases. That is something expected. But, when you write a longer sentence, like UK pre-qualified MLM leads (a 6 word sentence), you still get 2 and 3 word sentences. All these tools are not good for discovering longtail keywords. Two or three words is the most you will get.

Issue #2: No location-specific words returned

Consider the example of “pre-qualified UK MLM leads” or any other search that contains a location like “work from home in Oregon” or “earn income online in Denver”. It would be nice if keyword tools returned words that use the same city, state, or country that you used in your query. For any of you who have ever tried it, you already know that this does not happen. The location qualifier is largely dropped or ignored. That makes it difficult to develop an MLM keyword list to target a specific region.

Issue #3: Company-specific terms were not returned

Given how smart Google’s search engine is, you would expect that if you type in the name of an MLM company or the name of one of their products, it will return the names of other products from the same company. But, if you type “monavie active” (one of the types of juice), the search engine does NOT return “monavie mmun”, “monavie pulse” or “monavie emv” (the names of three other products). That means you have to manually compile lists of products and companies.

Issue #4: Leader names not returned

A great way to drive MLM traffic online is to use leading names in articles and ads. Every company has its short list of top earners. Wouldn’t it be great if free keyword search tools could reveal the names of all the Amway diamonds? We all know it can’t. That forces online network marketers to search for names one by one, a laborious and time consuming process.
