Paintball Vs Airsoft – Pros and Cons of Each

Paintball and Airsoft are two very similar sports. For newbies, it can be difficult to choose between the two. Both have their pros and cons, and understanding them will help you select the best option for you.

Let’s start with paintball.

Paintball is a war or hunting game in which you can use a variety of weapons to shoot plastic balls full of colored paint. Once the paintballs hit the target, they explode and leave a paint stain representing a hit or death.

Paintball professionals:

One of the main advantages of the paintball game is the clearly visible mark that the paint leaves. Since once a player takes a hit, he or she exits the game, it is best to be able to mark that with 100% certainty. The larger ammunition is also easier to track, which helps to make the correction.

High range and precision. Paintballs are heavy enough to ensure a precise trajectory that cannot be changed by a cross wind or small tree branches. Paintball guns use compressed gas to shoot and this has enough power for a longer range.

Cons of paintball:

It hurt. If you get hit in an unprotected place, the heavy paintball will leave a mark and hurt.

You have a lot of stains on your clothes. With all the paint stains on your clothes, there is no doubt that you will have to wash your clothes for the next game, even if it is tomorrow. If they hit you, of course. It is also not very easy to distinguish spots from different games on the same day if the teams do not use paintballs with a different color of pain for each of them.

Gas containers are most of the time large. Compared to airsoft gas containers, the ones used in paintball are larger as the guns use more gas for each shot.

The price of weapons and ammunition has a certain minimum that cannot be lowered.

Airsoft The game differs from Paintball only in the equipment used. Airsoft pistols fire with small plastic pellets that are up to 8mm in diameter. Due to the fact that there is nothing to spill and obstruct the gun, airsoft guns can also be spring-loaded.

Airsoft Pros:

Spring-operated airsoft guns are cheaper to make, so their market price is lower than the price of paintball guns. This makes this sport more affordable for newbies. Ammunition is also cheaper. High-end weapons, the prices of airsoft and paintball guns are similar.

It hurts less. Airsoft BBs are smaller, weigh and hurt less if they hit you.

Cons of airsoft:

The trajectory of the BBs is not that easy to follow, so the corrections are more difficult to make.

It cannot be guaranteed to score a hit or kill, as the balls do not leave any visible marks. This can cause disagreements and heated arguments during a game.

Accuracy and range are difficult. If you want to be more accurate over longer distances, you will have to use heavier balls to avoid interference from the wind. This reduces the range and the BBs hurt more if you hit your opponent somewhere unprotected.
