Why global warming is unstoppable

Global warming is one of the most threatening forces affecting the world today. The adverse effects of global warming are becoming more and more evident. Climate change is a direct result of global warming. We are now seeing more hurricanes and tropical storms, and they are becoming more intense storms.

One of the main reasons global warming is unstoppable is because people continue to use fossil fuels even though we know we shouldn’t. Nor do we have a structural plan to stop using fossil fuels in the short term. Human beings are using the atmosphere as if it were a gigantic dumping ground for pollutants. Gasoline vehicles are still being sold even though the technology for electric vehicles is already available.

Of course, the main reason this is happening is because of all the money that oil generates. Oil is a big business that is destroying our planet. Here is the main reason why global warming is unstoppable. If we stopped using fossil fuels entirely today, greenhouse gases would still remain trapped in the atmosphere for several decades. So even if we stopped using fossil fuels, it could take 200 years or more for greenhouse gases to disappear. Between 65% and 80% of the CO2 released into the atmosphere dissolves in our oceans over a period of about 20 to 200 years.

The rest of the greenhouse gases are removed by slower processes that take several million to thousands of years. What this tells us is that after 200 years of not using fossil fuels, we will still have a large amount of greenhouse gases permanently trapped in the atmosphere.

Of course, the more we continue to use fossil fuels, the worse global warming will be. So even though our planet has warmed and our climate has gotten worse. We can still benefit from stopping burning fossil fuels. However, the sad reality is that it would take a miracle for our governments to completely ban the burning of fossil fuels. If humans stopped burning fossil fuels altogether due to a new law imposed by all countries. We would be left without cars to get around, many who depend on cars and trucks would be stuck.

Panic would undoubtedly be a consequence of such a law, and many people would surely break the law as well. Such a law hasn’t even been talked about in the mainstream news yet. Nobody dares to admit that we would need such a law, it would be like admitting the awful truth.

We are so addicted to oil and fossil fuels that we blindly burn them. Or maybe people realize that burning fossil fuels is bad, but they don’t care.

In my opinion, most people would rather kill their own planet than face 5 or 10 years of hardship. 5 to 10 years of hardship is what we would face if we stopped burning fossil fuels altogether. We would go through a period of adaptation, and during that time we would develop new technology to sustain us.

Unfortunately, there is no easy solution to global warming. We really only have 2 options when it comes to global warming. We can move to another habitable planet, or we can try to fix this one. The first option would seem to be the most attractive since it would give us the opportunity to start over.

While we cannot fully repair our planet from the damage done, we can certainly limit future damage to our planet. People need to pressure their legislators to lean toward promoting a law that bans the use of fossil fuels.

Unfortunately, not everyone will write to their government and it is not certain that the government will do anything. Unless there is a major change in the climate, no one will do much to solve the problem.

Global warming would seem unstoppable but there is always hope. Someone could devise a way to migrate to another planet. And we could have a whole new planet to meet our needs.

A brilliant scientist could also find a unique and brilliant way to rid our planet of global warming. These solutions are, in my opinion, our best hope, because it doesn’t look like we’re going to stop using fossil fuels any time soon.
